Classic Boat Building and Repair

Marshall and Jo Duhaime build and restore classic wood boats.

They both have owned and operated  the Classic Boatworks of Maine, it was located just across Frenchman's Bay from Bar Harbor.

They have restored a 1966 Chris Craft Cavalier, 1950 Century Sea Maid, 1908 Lawley sloop, 1948 Blue Jay, 1962 Old Town runabout and many more.

Marshall has been building wood boats since 1958 and JO does the varnish and painting.  One of their biggest projects was the 55'  "Chief Uncas" a 1911 Elco built of Honduras mahogany.  This was being restored for use as a tour boat on Lake Otsego in Cooperstown, NY and is still in service.

Marshal and Jo have also worked on the "Volsunga" a CG approved ferry and mail boat which operated on Long Island Sound and most recently the "RL Gott" another CG approved ferry, operating in Maine. They have restored many classic wood boats - Chris Craft, Dodge, Century, and have built many wood boats for customers as well.

They use both traditional and modern methods in boat restoration. They believe that few wooden boats are so far gone that they can't be restored and look forward to answering questions from people who visit The Boat Yard.

Sadly Marshall Passed away in March 2009.
